What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of any medications you currently take.
If you have had x-rays, an MRI, or notes from another doctor about your knee, bring copies of those too. If your records are held by another office, our team can request them ahead of time if you let us know in advance.
Do I need a referral to see Dr. Vidal?
Most patients who see Dr. Vidal are referred by another physician, often because of a knee injury from sports or activity.
You do not need a referral to schedule, but if one has already been sent, please bring any paperwork or imaging that came with it so we have the full picture before your visit.
Will I need an MRI or x-ray before I come in?
Not necessarily. Many patients are seen first and imaging is ordered afterward, based on what Dr. Vidal finds on exam.
If you already have imaging from another provider, bringing it can save you a step, but it is not required to schedule your first appointment.
Who will I see at my appointment?
You will see Dr. Armando Vidal.
He is fellowship-trained in sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and his practice focuses on knee and shoulder problems that come from sports and athletic activity, including complex and multi-ligament knee injuries.
How long should I plan to be at the office?
Plan for about an hour.
That includes time for your history, a physical exam of the knee, and time to talk through what Dr. Vidal finds and what the next step looks like.
What happens if I need further treatment?
Your first visit is for evaluation, not for scheduling a procedure.
If Dr. Vidal recommends further treatment, he will walk through the options with you directly, and nothing is scheduled until you have had that conversation.
Is Dr. Vidal accepting new patients?
Yes. Dr. Vidal is accepting new patients at his Vail, CO practice.
